A proposal has been set into motion which has gained the support of the local Bellevue community, the Wood River Irrigation District, and City Council, to transform the District 45 Canal Co. diversion and the surrounding area into a river park and surf wave.

An informational meeting will be held on Monday, March 11, at 6 p.m. at Bellevue City Hall to answer questions about the proposed "wave structure."

The Monday meeting is open to anyone with interest in the proposed wave structure, including residents, property owners, canal company personnel and kayakers.

The structure is proposed on the Big Wood River near Bellevue where and existing diversion structure forces water  into an irrigation canal. The canal is owned by the District 45 Canal Co.. The area around the dam could be transformed into a river park where kayakers and boogie-boarders could play and practice their skills.
