Construction of river recreation park expected to begin next week

Project will result in five-month closure of Greenbelt section

Although it seems odd this far along in the game, Boise Planning and Zoning Commission only last week approved a Boise River System Permit.The permit will allow for clearing and excavation of the river bank at the site and for improvements associated with the replacement of the Thurman Mill Diversion and construction of the first phase of the park.

Progress on the Boise Whitewater Park continues throught Christmas. Fondations are pored and in place for the wave shaper and the diversion. The Greenbelt detour is still in effect. Crews are working hard.

RIVER RECREATION PARK The Simplot family will fund construction of Esther Simplot Park and will launch the project next winter with facilities to support the adjacent Boise River Recreation Park, Boise Mayor David H. Bieter announced in his May 18 State of the City Address.
